Oeschinen Lake — a different moment

Reached in around 45 minutes from The Brecon, Oeschinen Lake opens into a striking alpine setting: clear water, steep rock faces and views that feel almost too composed to be real.
From Kandersteg, take the cable car up towards the lake, or walk up if you prefer to earn the view more slowly. Once there, walk along the shore, take one of the panoramic trails, or rent a rowing boat and let the landscape slow around you.
It is especially beautiful in the quieter shoulder seasons, when the paths are calmer and the lake feels more its own. In winter, it is often frozen, changing the mood entirely — still, silent, and surrounded by the same dramatic peaks.
For those who want to go further, Oeschinen Lake is also a starting point for higher routes and overnight stays in SAC mountain huts. A place for a gentle walk, a quiet boat ride, or the beginning of something more ambitious.
