Ski Days, The Adelboden Way
Adelboden is made for days on snow. The wider Adelboden-Lenk ski region brings together six ski areas, almost 200 kilometres of pistes and 63 lifts — with blue, red and black runs for every level of experience.
There is room here for first turns, long confident carving, steeper runs and everything in between. Ski instructors are close by for anyone looking to learn, refine technique or simply feel more at ease on the mountain. Snowboarders are just as well placed, with varied terrain, wide pistes and plenty of space to find their line.
The mountain is not only about the skiing. Adelboden has a generous hut culture, with plenty of places to stop between runs — for coffee, lunch, something warm, or simply a pause in the sun. One of our favourites is the Ravioli Hut, though the beauty of the area is that every mountain hut has its own character and is well worth discovering.
From The Brecon, the Dorfbahn is just a short five-minute walk away. For access to the main cable car station, the Brecon Ski Shuttle keeps things easy — taking you from the calm of the hotel to the lift, and back again.
Beyond the Slopes
Adelboden is not only for skiers. Away from the main runs, winter opens up in a quieter way — through snowshoe trails, winter hiking paths and cross-country routes that can be explored independently, with plenty of options for different levels and moods.
For something more memorable, we recommend heading out with a local guide. The Alpine School offers a range of snowshoe experiences, from gentle introductions to more atmospheric tours. Our favourite is the full moon snowshoe hike: quiet snow, clear mountain air and the landscape transformed by moonlight.
Engstligenalp is one of the best places to experience it all in one setting. Alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, winter hiking and snowshoe tours all come together on this high plateau above Adelboden. For something truly special, there is even igloo fondue — and, for those looking for a more hands-on alpine experience, the chance to build an igloo yourself.
